We often talk about where the line of SaaS usage should be drawn.

Our view is that if someone is using their company provided email account to sign up to SaaS, even if they are doing it from their own device, or paying for it using their own credit card, it is connected with work. At this point it should be known about by the business.

From experience, personal email will only be used if:

1. Users are blocked from using their work email.

2. Someone is doing something nefarious.

3. Someone is doing something obviously personal. That being said we still track a whole category for Entertainment, and frequently see it growing the most.

If you are a Microsoft 365 customer, it really does just take seconds, and is easily achievable in under 1 minute.

If you are a Google Workspace customer, it takes about 2 or 3 minutes. This is because Google are a little less flexible on what can be automated.

Once done, the dashboard is available and populating within 15 minutes.
